Coordinators:
As we kick off this year's Colorectal Cancer (CRC) awareness campaign, "The Cancer You Can Prevent," I would like to share some resources to help make this campaign a successful one in each of your communities.
The awareness campaign includes print, radio and digital media to ensure we reach our target populations in Linn/Benton, Deschutes, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Lane, Multnomah and Polk counties and Coquille Indian Tribe (these are our Healthy Communities funded counties)
As in previous years, the print campaigns feature local spokespersons who have been screened for CRC and are now encouraging others to do the same.
We are especially excited to launch a new Latino-specific campaign this year. The campaign includes Spanish-language advertising, collateral and a website that will launch the first week of April: impedircancer.org.
Latino screening rates fall well below rates for all other Oregonians. This has contributed to the Latino community's highest rates of late-stage CRC diagnoses. Our goal then, is to frame this as a "Latino issue."
We've also put together a guidance document for Coordinators that offers an overview of this year's CRC campaign, as well as some tips and tactics on easy ways to generate publicity and awareness.
We have created a Dropbox link for you to be able to access helpful resources and materials. In the Dropbox, you will find:
* CRC Guidance Document for your use(PDF)
* A timeline for the spring 2015 media campaign, including run dates and locations for all English and Spanish language ads
* Latino ads (print, digital and radio)
To access the Dropbox account please click on the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dvuw9wou6zabjv5/AADciGpdW06Sn-A8AcpnaH_Sa?dl=0
If you do not have a Dropbox account, you simply sign up by typing in your first and last name, and your email address. You will then want to click "stay on this page" so you can go directly to these materials.
Don't forget: You can also find campaign tools and resources at the HPCDP Connection site, here: http://public.health.oregon.gov/Partners/HPCDPConnection/SelfManagement/Pages/CRCToolkit.aspx.

Thank you.
