Dear Coordinators,

It is my pleasure to announce that Polk County hired Alinna Ghavami as the new Healthy Communities Coordinator.

Alinna has a BS in Anthropology and an MPH in Health Promotion from Oregon State University. For three years Alinna was a research assistant on two community-based health promotion projects affiliated with OSU Extension-engAGE in Community and Generating Rural Options for Weight Healthy Kids and Communities (GROW HKC). EngAGE in Community is a community-based action initiative whose mission is to establish an age-friendly Clackamas County. GROW HKC addresses community and environmental supports and barriers for rural residents' ability to engage in obesity prevention behaviors with an ultimate goal of preventing obesity among rural children. While working on these projects Alinna developed a strong interest in the role of the built environment and its effect on health and became passionate about creating environmental initiatives to support healthy behavior for community residents. Alinna strongly values health for herself and her family, she enjoys running, swimming, and cooking Persian food. Her favorite activity is spending time with her husband and their new kitten, Atousa.?

Alinna can be reached via email at: ghavami.alinna at co.polk.or.us<mailto:ghavami.alinna at co.polk.or.us> or by phone at 503-623-9664 ext. 2594.
Welcome Alinna!

Tamara
