Hello Coordinators,
Following Tamara's email, I too would like to take this time to welcome a few new coordinators to our statewide team! Over the last couple of months, there has been a lot of change in Southwest Oregon!
Dennita Antonellis-John is the new Healthy Communities and Tobacco Prevention and Education Programs Coordinator for Coquille Indian Tribe. Here is what she wrote to introduce herself:
I am excited to be the new Healthy Programs Coordinator for the Coquille Tribe here in Coos Bay, OR. My name is Dennita or you can call me "DJ," whatever your preference is I am ok with it. Just to introduce myself. Yá'át'ééh (Hello), my whole (married) name is Dennita Antonellis-John and I am from Lukachukai, Arizona on the Navajo Nation. I am of the Naakaii Dine'é (Mexican People), born for Tł'ógi Dine'é (Zia Clan). My maternal grandfathers are of the Tl'aashchií'I Dine'é (Red Bottom People) and my paternal grandfathers are of the Tseikeehé Dine'é (Two-rock-sit together Clan). I have to introduce myself in this matter because it's my cultural tradition.
Kerri Ann Young is the new Tobacco Prevention and Education Programs Coordinator for Josephine County.
Kerri Ann joined the Josephine County Public health Department in 2012 and coordinates the Tobacco prevention & Education Program. She has worked in healthcare since 1998 and is a Certified Community Health Worker. She was introduced to the world of Public Health through the Healthy Communities Program and has also worked in Strategic Planning and the WIC Program during her time at the Health Department. Kerri Ann is a Southern Oregon native and lives in Grants Pass with her husband and three children. She loves to spend time with her family enjoying the outdoors, camping, cooking, and watching her children's sporting events. Kerri Ann works to educate her community about the negative health effects associated with tobacco use. She strives to help keep our youth tobacco-free by creating environments where seeing people smoke or use other tobacco products is the exception, not the norm.
Devon Preedy is the new Tobacco Prevention and Education Coordinator for Curry County.
Devon's first day was yesterday, September 21st. Devon just relocated to Gold Beach to start her position. She has a degree in Public Relations and a lot of great energy!
Please join me in welcoming Dennita, Kerri Ann and Devon!
Thanks!
Jenica
