The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new volunteer opportunity in communities across Oregon: the Community Ambassador Program. This effort aims to establish a statewide network of individuals dedicated to changing the culture of health research by sharing invaluable local perspectives and increasing awareness of OHSU led projects.

Why do we need Community Ambassadors?
The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute is committed to improving the health and wellness of all Oregonians. As such, we need to hear about local cancer and health related concerns, as well as be able to share opportunities to participate in cutting edge science with community members from across the state. Community Ambassadors can be this connection between the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and communities statewide.

Who can become an Ambassador?
The Community Ambassador Program is open to anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in advancing community-focused projects and getting involved with OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. No prior training or experience is necessary.

Why become a Community Ambassador:

  *   Gain leadership and community outreach experience as an OHSU volunteer
  *   Access and share educational resources and materials with your community
  *   Invitations to attend OHSU Knight Cancer Institute events, workshops, and conferences
  *   Contribute to the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute's goal to end cancer as we know it
 Ideal qualifications:

  *   Have a passion for improving health and wellness and an interest in learning more about/promoting research
  *   Demonstrate experience working with the general public and representing community perspectives
  *   Be a strong communicator and play an active role in your local community
  *   Be willing to utilize personal and professional networks to share OHSU led opportunities and resources
