The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), Health Promotion and Chronic Disease section<https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/DiseasesConditions/ChronicDisease/Pages/Program-Information.aspx> in Portland, OR is recruiting for a Tribal Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Policy Specialist. The Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Section focuses on best practices for promoting and supporting optimal health for all Oregonians. The section tackles chronic disease prevention with a comprehensive, community-wide approach to help people eat better, move more, live tobacco free, drink less alcohol, and take care of themselves. This means achieving better health, better care, and lower health care costs for all Oregonians.

What will you do?
As the Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Tribal Policy Specialist, you will provide strategic leadership, direction, coordination and oversight for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) tribal and urban program initiatives and policy, system and environmental change strategies. You will develop promotional and communication plans designed to maintain positive relationships with tribes, AI/AN serving organizations, the public, community partners, and other agencies related health promotion programs.

Do you have experience coordinating a public health program which specifically addresses alcohol, tobacco and other drugs? Do you have experience leading, developing and/or evaluating culturally specific approaches to reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug use in community settings? Do you have experience with population based public health assessment, intervention, policy development and evaluation? Are you experienced in project management and public communications? What are we looking for?

  *   Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in public health and four years of experience coordinating a public health program in health promotion and chronic disease prevention.
  *   Experience working with American Indian and Alaska Native tribal and urban native communities.
  *   Experience coordinating a program related to health promotion and disease prevention, specifically those dealing with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
  *   Experience with population-based public health assessment, intervention, policy development and evaluation.
  *   Experience managing projects and developing communication plans.

  *   Experience recommending and evaluating program priorities and strategies to achieve goals and meet funding requirements.
  *   Experience translating program priorities into project management, training and communications plans to educate about data, practice-based evidence and evidence-informed policy solutions.
  *   Experience managing grants, contracts, budgets and funding application processes.
  *   Experience planning, delivering and evaluating training.
  *   Experience writing technical reports, briefs and progress reports clearly and concisely.
  *   Experience in public speaking with demonstrated professionalism, confidence and poise.
  *   Experience promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
