Hello Tribal prevention partners,

Each year, in preparation for legislative session, all grantees receiving funding through HPCDP programs and initiatives are required to complete an online iLearn course called "Appropriate Use of Public Funds". This online review takes 30-45 minutes to complete and is intended to clarify restrictions on where, when, and how various activities - education, advocacy, lobbying, and electioneering - are appropriate or not allowed, and how to respond (or not respond) to media questions when an issue is on the ballot or up for a vote.

Please complete the course at your earliest convenience and let your HPCDP Community Programs Liaison know that you have done so. The course must be completed before the beginning of legislative session.

Important to know...

  * What to do if you log in to iLearn and you can't find the course: This course is open to the public. However, some grantees have an existing profile in iLearn that only allows them to access courses offered by another state agency domain (i.e. DHS). When this is the case, you can email DHS.TRAINING at dhsoha.state.or.us<mailto:DHS.TRAINING at dhsoha.state.or.us> and ask them to add the domain for this course to your login to allow you to access the course.

  * How do NEW COORDINATORS access the course: If you were hired after January 2018, you may not have an iLearn profile. Please go to https://ilearn.oregon.gov/default.aspx and create a profile using your work email address. Once you have a login ID and password, log in to iLearn and search for the course. I've attached an image of the course information page to help you find it on iLearn. I recommend doing a keyword search of the title Appropriate Use of Public Funds and select "all words" in the drop down selection box next to the Search box.

  * How to get a TRAINING CERTIFICATE: This function has been fixed and you may print a certificate after completing the training. When a user closes the course window after completion, there is an option to produce a certificate.

  * Why the course may look different: We have revised some text and color combinations to enhance contrast and improve accessibility of the content for those with impaired vision.

Over the next year, we will review whether other changes need to be made to update this course. Please share your constructive feedback about how to improve this learning experience, more clearly communicate this information, and make it more accessible to all of our grantees. You can send feedback to me, Jennifer Diallo.

Please let me or your liaison know if you have any questions or challenges accessing the course in iLearn.

Best wishes for a successful and healthy new year in 2019!
