Good morning Tribal TPEP,

I hope all is well. Below are a list of updates and resources for you to check out:

Drink Less for Your Breasts Social Media Campaign: The Drink Less for Your Breasts campaign worked to raise awareness among young women in California that alcohol use is a risk factor for breast cancer. The campaign ran on social media, for approximately six weeks as #drinklessforyourbreasts. It also included a website to educate young women about the link between alcohol use and breast cancer, and to provide resources for learning more about breast cancer and alcohol use. This work was funded by the CA Breast Cancer Research Program and was implemented by the Alcohol Research Group (ARG), a program of the Public Health Institute. The ARG is providing free materials so that any interested organization or group can launch their own educational campaign within your own networks, communities, and social media platforms. These materials include a rapid literature review, infographics, posters, videos, and social media posts and accompanying text. Find toolkits, research, and the informational webinar here: https://arg.org/drink-less-for-your-breasts-health-campaign/

Virtual Advocacy Symposium: Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids opened registration to the 2021 Virtual Advocacy Symposium. It will take place over three virtual sessions on June 21, 22, and 24 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET each day. Symposium will focus on tobacco and social justice! Participants will leave with an understanding of how to use their voice to change policy on any issue they care about. The program is meant for both new and seasoned young advocates. We know that many of you are still working on or leading the COVID response in your community: We've also heard that there's an opportunity to provide quit tobacco materials and messaging at many of the COVID-19 vaccination and testing sites as people think about their health - especially their lung health! - in a new way. We've developed a suite of materials for you to use in your communities, everything from digital display signs for waiting area TVs to palm cards that people can take home. And now, we've developed Spanish language materials as well! We have funding for some printing, and this is also a great way to spend down end-of-year funding. Please click here to show which materials and languages you are interested in and provide a rough estimate for how many you would like. We will follow up to confirm your order and when you can expect to receive them. Contact Sarah Wylie at sarah.a.wylie at state.or.us<mailto:sarah.a.wylie at state.or.us> if you have any questions. The order forms contain links to all materials for you to see: English https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CovidCessationMaterials<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.surveymonkey.com/r/CovidCessationMaterials__;!!OxGzbBZ6!K3L2UZJmadDMZIUv84WZLDpGKLoYI5BT8TJwkU2QKJ3DsoL1OVdJfa2WLSETzVaO6ViPArINADtENQ$> and Spanish click aquí<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.surveymonkey.com/r/LK9K3DD__;!!OxGzbBZ6!KDJwHkW4JPsLzMr5iak9dJAO-jGCY6rNwe5kn3FLYoiswju_lvzGxL5aGecK5wi6tcUTp6V3y4U$>

New Opportunity from Counter Tools: Each year, Counter Tools hosts a Point-of-Sale Tobacco Marketing Photo Contest through our project CounterTobacco.org to capture the tobacco industry's marketing tactics in the retail environment. With safety in mind, this fall we decided to postpone the contest. But the tobacco industry hasn't taken a break during the pandemic - they've just used this as one more opportunity to exploit to market their deadly products. We're re-launching the contest today with a range of safe ways to participate. From May 17th - June 14th, you can help document and expose the tobacco industry's marketing tactics at the point of sale... AND win bragging rights and some sweet CounterTobacco.org swag in the process! These images are crucial for educating the public and furthering the success of state and local tobacco control efforts that seek to reduce tobacco industry influence in the retail environment. You don't even have to go into a store to participate! This year we have a whole category dedicated to the tobacco advertisements that often blanket the exterior of tobacco retailers. We know many of you have some great photos you've taken during store assessments or other visits to stores in the past - you can enter those, too!
