<DIV>Oregon's Tobacco Prevention and Education Program (TPEP) at the Oregon Health Authority is hiring for two positions. This is a full-time limited duration position lasting to February 2012, with the possibility of an extension. (announcement #DHS11-0313)<BR><BR>2) Tobacco Community Programs Coordinator (Program Analyst 2) - applications due May 6, 2011. This is a full-time permanent position. (announcement #DHS11-0316)<BR><BR>TPEP was launched in 1997 with a clear and simple mandate - to reduce tobacco-related illness and death. Since its inception, TPEP has been a comprehensive program, addressing the issues of tobacco use, initiation and cessation. Oregon's anti-tobacco efforts are <A href="http://public.health.oregon.gov/PreventionWellness/TobaccoPrevention/Pages/pubs.aspx">saving lives and money</A>.<BR><BR>Each year in Oregon, tobacco use kills nearly 7,000 people. It claims more lives than motor vehicle crashes, suicide, AIDS, and murders combined.<BR><BR>In addition to the cost of tobacco to Oregonians in lives, tobacco also imposes a staggering financial burden - of particular concern at a time of serious economic difficulties in the state.
