Hello grantees,

Although you may or may not have participated in the November TPEP webinar on tobacco point-of-sale assessments and policy options, we wanted to let you know that we have uploaded new material to HPCDP Connection that will help you conduct
tobacco retail assessments if you choose to do so.

First, HPCDP Connection now has the Standardized Tobacco Assessment for Retail Settings (STARS) survey (formerly called the Standard Store Audit). This is the "streamlined" survey tool that we mentioned on the webinar and follow-up calls.
The STARS survey also comes with a PowerPoint that you can use for assessment training and a "pocket guidebook" that includes pictures of each item you are looking for on the assessment tool. These three items make up a nice tobacco assessment toolkit.

These items are located on the "Technical Assistance" page under the "More Resources" heading here (they are the last three items under this heading):

https://partners.health.oregon.gov/Partners/HPCDPConnection/Pages/TechnicalAssistance.aspx.

In addition, we are currently working to re-vamp the "Retail Licensing" page that currently exists on HPCDP Connection to be a more broadly defined "Retail Environment" page. This new page will include the tobacco retail assessment tools
and materials, as well as draft modules for assessment of alcohol, lottery and food. This page will also include more detailed descriptions of the policy options related to the retail environment and some local and national resources and materials. We plan
to have this done by the end of January.

Please contact your liaison if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Thank you!
