This nominee should have demonstrated long-term commitment by addressing barriers, policy concerns, eliminating disparities, and involving the youth of Oregon.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:0in;margin-right:3.0pt;margin-bottom:.75pt;margin-left:3.0pt'><span style='font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'> <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><strong><span style='font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'>Maurine Neuberger Award for Distinguished Career Achievement</span></strong><span style='font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'> - Maurine Neuberger was a pioneer in the Oregon tobacco control movement long before it was underway. Maureen pushed for stronger controls on cigarette advertising and co-authored the 1963 book “Smoke Screen: Tobacco and Public Welfare”. In 1964 she sponsored and successfully fought for federal legislation requiring cigarette warning labels. This nominee will be recognized for their long-term leadership and for making significant contributions for at least five years.
