<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">Thank you for all the work you have done to promote the DIMENSIONS: Tobacco Free Programs trainings! We have extended the deadline to register for this training. The attached flyer reflects these new dates. The
Bend, Medford and second Wilsonville trainings still have space available. The two day event consists of two separate trainings: 1) ½ day training that will provide tips on successful implementation of the
<a href="http://www.oregon.gov/oha/amh/Pages/tobacco.aspx">Tobacco Freedom Policy</a> that creates tobacco-free environments at residential treatment facilities in Oregon, and 2) a day and a half training that will cover advanced techniques to help consumers
of addictions and mental health services in tobacco cessation. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">Several TPEP Coordinators have expressed interest in attending the trainings. The first ½ day training on the Tobacco Freedom Policy may be applicable to your work. If you are interested in attending, please

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">Behavioral health and addictions providers that do not work in residential settings are also invited to attend these trainings. Please pass this flyer along to those that could benefit from learning these skills.
Continuing education units (CEUs) will be offered, registration and on-site meals are free of cost, and free lodging will be provided for those traveling over 70 miles each way to attend.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black">This is a request of you to help support the implementation of the Tobacco Freedom Policy in your community. Launched in January 2013, the Policy requires all residential treatment
facilities licensed by the Oregon Addictions and Mental Health Division (AMH) to maintain tobacco-free properties and establish tobacco cessation resources for both staff and consumers.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black">Between May 4-22 in Wilsonville, Medford and Bend, a training will provided for residential treatment facilities to receive tips on successfully implementing the Tobacco Freedom
Policy and providing services and promoting positive behavior change to consumers interested in tobacco cessation<b>.</b>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">People living with mental health conditions experience significant tobacco-related health inequities - they<span style="color:#0D0D0D;background:white">
</span>die on average 25 years earlier than the general population as a result of tobacco use and poor nutrition.<span style="color:#0D0D0D;background:white"> Yet, they are just as motivated to quit and deserve to be healthy. Maintaining tobacco-free behavioral
health facilities with integrated cessation programs reinforces a supportive treatment environment.</span><o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Is the Policy being successfully implemented?

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Yes. In 2014, AMH partnered with the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Section to
<span style="color:#0D0D0D;background:white">conduct a survey with residential treatment facilities to evaluate the implementation of the Policy and identify strategies to continue to reinforce tobacco-free living and promote a culture of wellness and recovery.
