<p class="MsoNormal">This year’s Public Health Week is coming up April 4-10, and this is a great opportunity for all of us to participate in the conversation about the future of public health in Oregon. You may want to attend key sessions on<span style="color:#1F497D">

<p class="MsoNormal">On Monday, Dr. Katrina Hedberg will kick-off the conversation about the future of public health with a discussion of
<a href="https://public.health.oregon.gov/About/Pages/HealthStatusIndicators.aspx">
Oregon’s State Health Profile</a>, which includes a broad set of indicators that offer a snapshot of the health of Oregonians. Later that morning, Sara Beaudrault will facilitate a panel of the leads for the
<a href="https://public.health.oregon.gov/About/Pages/HealthImprovement.aspx">State Health Improvement Plan</a> (SHIP) to discuss how we will improve the health of all people in Oregon by 2020. In the evening, Dr. Russell Kirby, our keynote from University
of South Florida, will discuss population health informatics potential in chronic disease prevention and the SHIP.

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As you know, Oregon is <a href="https://public.health.oregon.gov/About/TaskForce/Pages/index.aspx">
modernizing its public health system</a> to align with the current challenges to health for Oregonians. On Wednesday, Rebecca Pawlak and Sara Beaudrault will discuss the preliminary findings from the recent modernization assessment and discuss next steps in
the path forward to modernizing public health. We want to make sure that we are capturing everyone’s concepts and ideas for a modernized public health system, and will have a room of Hopes and Dreams to creatively engage staff in this important conversation.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">To wrap-up the week, we will have an OHSU-PSU Public Health student poster showcase followed by a panel discussion on the future of the public health workforce. Danna Drum, Amanda Garcia-Snell, Karen Girard<span style="color:#1F497D">,</span>
David Howe and Collette Young will participate on this panel discussion facilitated by Kirsten Aird.
