The awards will honor individuals, organizations, coalitions and businesses that have contributed to the health of our community through work related to chronic disease prevention, health promotion, early detection and self-management.

- Maurine Neuberger was a pioneer in the Oregon tobacco control movement long before it was underway. Maurine pushed for stronger controls on cigarette advertising and co-authored the 1963 book “Smoke Screen: Tobacco and Public Welfare.” In 1964 she sponsored
and successfully fought for federal legislation requiring cigarette warning labels. This award will honor an individual for their long-term leadership, dedication, support and loyalty to the Oregon tobacco control movement. Nominees with more than five years
of support will be considered.<o:p></o:p></span></li></ol>

commitment, tenacity and leadership to ensure all people in Oregon live, work, play, learn and age in communities that support health and optimal quality of life. The award will honor an awardee whose work focuses on advancing policy, system, and environmental
change to promote health and prevent and manage chronic disease. The awardee should be well-known and recognized for their passion, leadership, accomplishments and dedication to health promotion and chronic disease prevention.
