FOREST HISTORY CONFERENCE PROPOSALS SOUGHT
An Oregon Forest History Roundtable will accept proposals for
presentations until Dec. 1.
The roundtable will be a gathering May 15 of forest historians to share
current research, knowledge, and resources relating to the study and
interpretation of Oregon*s forest history. This event is part of the
commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Oregon*s statehood, and is
open to anyone with an interest in forests and Oregon history. An
understanding of forest history is fundamental to an understanding of
the forests we know today, and the vision we have for forests in the
future.
Potential presenters are asked to submit a proposal of 500 words or
less describing the topic they would like to present and their
qualifications. Presentation blocks will range from 30-45 minutes. A
selection committee will review and select proposals, and a roundtable
agenda will be finalized. After the gathering, proceedings will be
compiled, published and distributed; the event will be covered in
Forests for Oregon magazine (published by the Oregon Department of
Forestry). The roundtable will be held at the Tillamook Forest Center.
Submit proposals of 500 words or less by Dec. 1 to Doug Decker,
Roundtable Coordinator, 801 Gales Creek Road, Forest Grove, OR 97116; or
by e-mail to ddecker at odf.state.or.us <mailto:ddecker at odf.state.or.us>
For more information, contact Doug at 503-359-7439.
