GUILD TO SPIN WHEELS, STORIES AT AURORA

The 28th Annual Spinning Wheel Showcase will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 13 and noon-4 p.m. March 14 at Aurora.

This event, presented by the Aurora Colony Handspinners Guild, will feature over 30 antique spinning wheels, in working condition, exhibited by their owners. Spinners dressed in period costume will be available to tell the story of the wheel. The Aurora Colony Historical Society will host the event at the Old Aurora Colony Museum, located on the corner of Second and Liberty streets.

Spinning wheels owned by the museum will be displayed, including the rare oscillating pendulum wheel, of which there are only five known to be in existence. This wheel was developed in the Aurora Colony, and a replica of it will be in use during the showcase.

Live animals will be on display in the museum's wagon shed. Refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the Old Aurora Colony Museum at 503-678-5754 or www.auroracolony.org or email: info at auroracolony.org
