LOOKING BACK AT 2013 ON EXCHANGE
 
In reviewing 2013 here at Oregon Heritage, we found some wonderful
highlights and we’re sharing them with you on Exchange (

). Of course, all of these activities happened because of YOUR great
work, and we hope you take some to time to celebrate your action!
 
 
A 2013 GIFT TO HERITAGE WILL CONTINUE INTO 2014 AND BEYOND
 
Oregon’s heritage is a legacy for the future preserved among
prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, and in historic buildings
and landscapes. It is contained in the collective wealth of our museums
and heritage institutions, and embodied in our public celebrations and
anniversaries.  Encouraging donations to the Oregon Cultural Trust (
http://www.culturaltrust.org/ ) through the tax credit process will
enable continued support of our heritage legacy. 
 
 
WORKSHOPS FOCUS ON NATIVE ARTS MARKETING STRATEGIES
 
The Natives Arts and Cultures Foundation, in partnership with the
Evergreen Longhouse and Cultural Center and the Warm Springs Community
Action Team, will conduct three professional development workshops for
Native artists in marketing. “Native Arts Marketing Strategies for
Creative Entrepreneurs”, will focus on preparing an artist’s statement;
pricing artwork; website development; and social media, and strategies
for breaking into the art market. The workshops will take place from 9
a.m. – 4 p.m., on the following dates and locations: 
 
Feb. 1, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Portland Office, 4445 SW
Barbur, Blvd., Portland; 
Feb. 15, Evergreen Longhouse Workshop, Evergreen State College campus,
Olympia, WA; and 
March 1, Warm Springs Workshop, the Museum at Warm Springs in Warm
Springs.

NORTHWEST INDIAN COLLEGE TO OFFER ONLINE TRIBAL MUSEUM STUDIES PROGRAM

 
Northwest Indian College (NWIC) is offering a new online Tribal Museum
Studies program.  Taught Portland Art Museum curator, Deana Dartt, the
winter quarter course will focus on Collections Management in Tribal
Museums. Registration is open through Jan 7, and the course begins Jan.
