[Heritage] Step Two in Completing your Disaster Response Plan

So, you took the first step last week on completing your organization’s Pocket Response Plan<http://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/OHC/docs/OC2C%20Prep%20Plan.doc>. Here are this week’s assignments:

1. Identify your disaster team members and their contact information.

2. Identify your response team members and their contact information.

On initial thought, you might think these could be the same people. However, it helps to have two teams. Disaster team members are generally people who can respond immediately and stop further damage from taking place. Response team members may not be able to respond as rapidly. They will be the people who begin the cleanup as your organization recovers.

Disaster team members may be exhausted by the time recovery begins, so it helps to have a fresh recovery team.

Oregon Heritage is helping you during this six-week period to create a Pocket Response Plan that qualifies your organization for an incentive payment from the Connecting to Collections Project.

A few minutes of effort today to begin creating a Pocket Response Plan (PREP)<http://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/OHC/docs/OC2C%20Prep%20Plan.doc> will begin to qualify your organization for an incentive payment from the Connecting to Collections Project. Oregon Heritage will be right there working with you along the way.

Here’s how it works. Every week for six weeks, Oregon Heritage News sends you a section or two of the PREP to complete. Each segment takes just a few minutes to fill in with information you already have in your museum, library or archive.

At the end of six weeks, you will have finished a PREP and that qualifies you for a financial incentive from the Oregon Connecting to Collections project, funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
