[Heritage] STEP THREE IN COMPLETING YOUR DISASTER RESPONSE PLAN

It is easy to get off track, and postpone working on your disaster response plan. Case in point – we got distracted in preparing for the upcoming Heritage Conference, and forgot to provide you with Step Three instructions last week for your Pocket Response Plan (PREP<http://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/OHC/docs/OC2C%20Prep%20Plan.doc>)!

This week, let us get back on track with an assignment to identify your institutional contacts.

Institutional contacts can include the director of your organization, your emergency manager, accountant, building manager, archivist, or anyone who serves as a lead in a particular area. In the event of a disaster, these individuals will help the recovery team pinpoint areas of immediate concern, such as vital records necessary to keep your institution operational during a recovery effort.

Oregon Heritage is helping you during this six-week period to create a Pocket Response Plan that qualifies your organization for an incentive payment from the Connecting to Collections Project.

A few minutes of effort today to begin creating a PReP will begin to qualify your organization for an incentive payment from the Connecting to Collections Project. Oregon Heritage will be right there working with you along the way.

Here’s how it works. Every week for six weeks, Oregon Heritage News sends you a section or two of the PREP to complete. Each segment takes just a few minutes to fill in with information you already have in your museum, library or archive.

At the end of six weeks, you will have finished a PReP and that qualifies you for a financial incentive from the Oregon Connecting to Collections project, funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
