NAO TO HOLD WEBINAR ON SOCIAL MEDIA TACTICS, MARCH 12

The Nonprofit Association of Oregon (NAO) will hold a webinar titled “10 #SocialMedia Tactic to Do More With Less” from 10 – 11 a.m., March 12. Many organizations dedicate large portions of their budgets to sophisticated social media campaigns, which are beyond the reach of most small nonprofits. This webinar will demonstrate how small organizations can achieve great results through strategically savvy use of social media. NATIONAL TRUST SEEKS PASTFORWARD 2015 DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

The National Trust is seeking Diversity Scholarship applications from emerging preservation professionals and community leaders new to the preservation field whose attendance at PastForward 2015<http://www.preservationnation.org/resources/training/npc/> will strengthen their commitment to historic preservation and benefit their communities. Program participants will receive complimentary registration and lodging. JUDGES NEEDED FOR REGIONAL HISTORY DAY IN SOUTHERN OREGON

Leadership and Legacy in History is the theme of this year’s History Day. In Southern Oregon, two schools have students competing in the History Day contest: Butte Falls and St. Mary's. They are seeking judges to evaluate papers and exhibits, a few performances, websites, and a documentary. RESEARCHER SEEKS PRIMARY SOURCE MATERIAL ON MIDWIFERY IN OREGON

Sarah Taylor is researching the topic of childbirth and midwifery in Oregon. She is interested in reviewing primary source materials, including letters, journals or records of childbirth that may exist in the collections of Oregon’s many museums and archives. She is interested in gathering additional information on immigrant midwives trained in Europe or Asia; Irish washerwomen who worked at forts and sometimes served as midwives; and other documentation that demonstrates the many ways women helped one another during childbirth. She will present some of her findings at a Midwifery History event in Portland on May 5 as well as the Oregon Historical Society’s symposium titled “Regulating Birth”. LEWIS AND CLARK COLLEGE OPENS SEARCH FOR HEAD OF SPECIAL COLLECTIONS, ARCHIVES

Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, invites applications for the Head of Special Collections and College Archivist at Aubrey R. Watzek Library.  Lewis & Clark is a selective liberal arts college with graduate programs in Education, Counseling Psychology, and Law.  We seek a dynamic leader to build and shape a highly successful program and offer opportunities for professional growth and advancement to the successful candidate.

This position will oversee Special Collections and Archives including the supervision of departmental staff.  As the College Archivist the position will manage archival collections to meet institutional needs and comply with records retention policies.  S/he will act as a steward of signature collections including the Williams Stafford Archives and the Literature of the Lewis & Clark Expedition and develop unique collections that align with College interests.  The position will lead programming, pedagogy, and outreach related to the collections within the College and beyond.
