TAKE THE FIRST STEP TODAY TOWARD A COLLECTIONS CARE INCENTIVE

A few minutes of effort today to begin creating a Pocket Response Plan (PREP)<http://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/OHC/docs/OC2C%20Prep%20Plan.doc> will begin to qualify your organization for an incentive payment from the Connecting to Collections Project. Oregon Heritage will be right there working with you along the way.

Here’s how it works. Every week for six weeks, Oregon Heritage News sends you a section or two of the PREP to complete. Each segment takes just a few minutes to fill in with information you already have in your museum, library or archive.

At the end of six weeks, you will have finished a PREP and that qualifies you for a financial incentive from the Oregon Connecting to Collections project, funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

GRANT APPLICATION DEADLINES APPROACHING

Don’t miss the opportunity to apply for several Oregon grant programs. Several application deadlines are approaching. April 17 is the deadline for the Letter of Intent for the Preserving Oregon Grant. Oregon Heritage should receive your Historic Cemetery Grant and Museum Grant Program applications by April 30; and the deadline for applying for the Diamonds in the Rough Grant is May 15. CULTURAL TRUST SCHEDULES “CONVERSATIONS WITH FUNDERS” APRIL 1 – 7

Join Cultural Trust Manager Aili Schreiner and her colleagues from the Oregon Arts Commission, Oregon Heritage, Oregon Humanities and the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office April 1 – 7  for "Conversations with Funders," a five-stop state tour to discuss how cultural nonprofits may apply for grant funds this year. For those unable to attend the in-person conversations, Schreiner will lead a webinar for prospective Cultural Development Grant applicants from 3 – 4 p.m. April 8.

Meetings will take place on April 1 in Springfield (9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Richard E. Wildish Theatre) and Coos Bay (2 – 4 p.m. in the Coos Public Library’s Cedar Room) and on April 2 in Bend (10 a.m. – noon at the Art Station). Additional meetings will occur on April 7 in Oregon City (10 a.m. – noon at the Ainsworth House and Gardens) and the Dalles (3 – 5 p.m. at The Dalles Art Center).

Organizations encouraged to attend include libraries, arts organizations, museums, cultural centers, historical societies, arts alliances, literary groups and heritage organizations. SOCIETY OF ARCHITECTURAL HISTORIANS CALLS FOR PAPERS

Marion Dean Ross/Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians is seeking papers for its annual conference, set to take place Oct. 23 – 25 in Ashland. This year’s theme is "Artifice and Authenticity in Architecture! To Play or Not To Play?" Abstracts are due May 12. For detailed information, visit www.sahmdr.org<http://www.sahmdr.org/>.


NATIONAL PARK SERVICE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION BEGINS APRIL 2

The National Park Service (NPS) will celebrate its centennial in 2016. As part of the celebration, the National Park Foundation recently launched the Next 100 Years for America’s National Parks website<http://nextcenturyforparks.org/>. The site includes information on collaborating with NPS to celebrate its centennial, and pages devoted to preserving places, advancing education and connecting to parks across the country.
