[Heritage] Heritage Commission meets Sept. 21 in The Dalles

The Oregon Heritage Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Sept. 21 at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Ave., The Dalles.
The agenda includes a proposal to designate the centennial of the Historic Columbia River Highway in 2016 as a statewide celebration, a review of heritage legislation, a presentation on the first 20 years of the commission, and updates on other heritage programs and topics.
The meeting is open to the public and the agenda includes an opportunity for public comment. Meetings are accessible to people with disabilities. Special accommodations may be arranged up to 72 hours in advance of the meeting by calling 503-986-0690.
The Heritage Commission is comprised of nine people representing Oregon's heritage and geographical diversity who have been appointed by the Governor. There are nine advisory representatives from state agencies and statewide organizations.
The mission of the Heritage Commission is to secure, sustain, and enhance Oregon's heritage by ensuring coordination of heritage initiatives by public and private organizations; advocacy on its behalf; education of the public about its extent and value; and promotion and celebration of its diversity.
