Help us document sites related to women's history in Oregon!

With the approach of the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, Oregon Heritage encourages Oregon communities to make an effort to identify sites of significance related to women's history, either local, state, or national significance. If a site is identified, you can enter information on an online form we created specially for initiatives like this one. You can find that form here: http://makeoregonhistory.org/.

Also, don't forget to start planning for programs and looking for those hidden stories now so you are prepared for the 2020 anniversary. If you need some ideas, check out this flyer<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/docs/2020flyerA.pdf>.

Heart-warming story of a cross-generational team researching their family's history

The most recent post on the Oregon Heritage Exchange tells the story of a grandmother and granddaughter team that is researching their family's connection with an historic cemetery in Molalla. It is a heart warming story that also outlines the process they went through and the fun they had during the project. Why storytelling in museums matters

Here at Oregon Heritage, storytelling is a prominent theme we have been discussing as it is a great way to talk about the value of heritage with your stakeholder groups.

This article<https://www.museumnext.com/article/why-do-stories-matter-to-museums-and-how-can-museums-become-better-storytellers/> from MuseumNext talks about the importance of storytelling in museums, how to find a story, and how to organize it and share it.
