Most recent National Register recommendations made by state committee
On February 27 and 28, the State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) met to consider nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. The SACHP is a nine-member governor-appointed citizen commission with credentials in many historic preservation-related fields.
The SACHP reviewed five proposed nominations:
Buena Vista Social Clubhouse, Oregon City
D. H. Sphier Building, Bend
Fogelbo House, Portland
African American Resources in Portland Multiple Property Document, Portland
Williams Avenue YWCA, Portland.
After review and discussion, the SACHP recommended to the State Historic Preservation Officer that each of the nominations reviewed at the meeting meet the National Register criteria, pending the completion of several requested revisions of each of the nominations.
Now that the SACHP made their recommendation, preparers of the five nominations have 90-days to complete revisions requested by the SACHP and the State Historic Preservation Office. Once revised, the nominations are forwarded on to the National Park Service (NPS) for final consideration. Upon receipt of the final nomination submission, the NPS has up to 45-days to review the nomination and make a final decision whether or not the property is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Tonight, 3/6 at SOU, Tangren Alexander's poignant doll house, Country Dykes will be exhibited at the HerStory Art Exhibit along with animated vingnettes from her suffrage doll house. Tangren has been a link between Southern Oregon University and Southern Oregon women's separatist communities for more than 40 years and is an elder with the Southern Oregon Writers' Group, Gourmet Society and Chorus.
Sunday, 3/15 at the Ashland Public Library, A Day of History! With sessions on the 1970s and 1980s HerStory with Rosemary Dunn Dalton and Sue Lopez, Women in Politics with Ashland's first and only woman mayor Cathy Shaw and also Barbara Klein JCLWV and Esperanza Tervalon-Garrett with Dancing Heart.
We'll also showcase young women from 13 years old to 20 years old who are our leaders of tomorrow -- learn about their passions, their demands for social justice, their skill and good will on this journey we share together.
SOU President Linda Schott will open the day and Jeanine Grizzard's one person show, Panhurst will finish it up.
Wednesday, 3/18 at Dunbar Farms and Rocky Knoll Vineyards, In Her Words an Evening of Wine and Women's Poetry featuring five** women's poetry groups, wonderful wine and showcasing the poetry of Rosemary Dunn Dalton who began SOU's Women in Transition program at SOU as a student in 1975 and continued her good work to found Dunn House, Jackson County's first domestic violence center.

Society of Architectural Historians conference April 29-May 3 in Seattle
The Society of Architectural Historians will host its 73rd Annual International Conference in Seattle, Washington, April 29-May 3, 2020. SAH members from around the world will convene to present new research on the history of the built environment and explore the architecture of Seattle and nearby areas. Marion Dean Ross Chapter of SAH Research Award call for applications
The goal of the Elisabeth Walton Potter Research Award is to further awareness and knowledge of architectural heritages in the Pacific Northwest. The chapter will provide limited funds for focused projects that increase understanding of the region's built environment and produce tangible results that can be made available for scholars and students.
Application deadline for the award is April 14, 2020.
