Holiday Oregon Heritage Tradition: Christmas Ships Parade
This holiday season be sure to check out the Christmas Ships Parade, a designated Oregon Heritage Tradition event.
The Christmas Ships Parade began with one decorated sailboat in 1954 and has since grown to over 70 participating boats. The entirely volunteer run event runs for 15 nights during December and travels the Willamette and Columbia River in the Portland Metro area providing opportunities for communities to view it from the river front and from restaurants along the river. Several cities along the rivers have tied their holiday events to the parade schedule. For more information on the event visit here<http://www.christmasships.org/>.
The Oregon Heritage Tradition designation recognizes events more than 50 years old that represent what it means to be an Oregonian. Designated events are unique locally, regionally, and statewide. In short, these events add to the livability and identity of the state.
Learn more about the designation here<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/pages/heritage-designations.aspx#two> and if you know of an event that has been happening 50 years or longer and fits the criteria, please do not hesitate to contact Katie Henry at katie.henry at oprd.oregon.gov<mailto:katie.henry at oprd.oregon.gov>.

Is your organization facing a major change and you’re not sure how to approach it and lead your stakeholders and staff through the challenges? Join us for the workshop below to add some tools to your toolkit to be able to work through it.
Cost: FREE
About the Workshop:
Change and disruption have become the norms in recent years due to a variety of factors impacting our world, our nation, and our communities. Change impacts everyone and yet everyone deals with change differently. Rather than constantly reacting to change, there are strategies to anticipate and prepare for change both personally and organizationally. Utilizing existing and emerging change management principles and tools, this interactive workshop will empower and equip participants with a toolkit to develop their own customized approach to change that can be directly applied to the unique needs of their organization moving forward.
Presenter:
The workshops will be presented by Joseph Thouvenel, a seasoned change management professional who has applied his expertise in both higher education and healthcare settings. An experienced and collaborative leader, Joe loves to empower and equip others to realize their potential and achieve success especially during times of transition and disruption. In his current role, Joe works with leaders and teams throughout Providence Health and Services to build capacity for change. Through collaboration, coaching, and meeting facilitation, Joe strives to widen the circle of those who influence strategic change to include people with diverse perspectives and from all levels of an organization. Additionally, Joe has worked and partnered with a number of non-profit organizations in the areas of change readiness, strategy, and program implementation. He is also a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach and is a trained facilitator for Leading Reflective Conversations through Oregon Humanities.
