About the Workshop:
Change and disruption have become the norms in recent years due to a variety of factors impacting our world, our nation, and our communities. Change impacts everyone and yet everyone deals with change differently. Rather than constantly reacting to change, there are strategies to anticipate and prepare for change both personally and organizationally. Utilizing existing and emerging change management principles and tools, this interactive workshop will empower and equip participants with a toolkit to develop their own customized approach to change that can be directly applied to the unique needs of their organization moving forward.
Presenter:
The workshops will be presented by Joseph Thouvenel, a seasoned change management professional who has applied his expertise in both higher education and healthcare settings. An experienced and collaborative leader, Joe loves to empower and equip others to realize their potential and achieve success especially during times of transition and disruption. In his current role, Joe works with leaders and teams throughout Providence Health and Services to build capacity for change. Through collaboration, coaching, and meeting facilitation, Joe strives to widen the circle of those who influence strategic change to include people with diverse perspectives and from all levels of an organization. Additionally, Joe has worked and partnered with a number of non-profit organizations in the areas of change readiness, strategy, and program implementation. He is also a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach and is a trained facilitator for Leading Reflective Conversations through Oregon Humanities.

Oregon Main Street Announces New Application Round for Top Tier Communities
Oregon Main Street just opened applications for the Designated Main Street and Affiliated Main Street level communities for the first time since pre-pandemic. Applications are due on January 31, 2023.
Oregon Main Street has a new tiered approach that allows communities to participate in ways that best meet their capacity and needs.  The Main Street track, which includes Accredited, Designated, and Affiliated Main Street levels, is for communities that want to use the comprehensive Main Street Approach(tm) to sustain and enhance their historic downtown or traditional commercial neighborhood district.
There are specific criteria communities must meet to qualify and maintain status depending on the level of participation. Some of these criteria include:

  *   Having an independent nonprofit focused on the historic core
  *   Commitment to using the Main Street Four-Point(tm) structure
  *   Adequate staffing levels
  *   Participation in required trainings
There is also the Connected Communities level for communities that aren't ready to use the Main Street(tm) structure but see value in participating in the OMS Network. Acceptance into the Oregon Main Street Network, depending on the Tier, allows communities to participate in services such as training workshops, be eligible for community assessments and technical assistance, and compete for grants.
The Main Street Approach(tm), developed by Main Street America(tm), is a time-tested framework for community-driven, comprehensive revitalization. This proven approach emphasizes community organization, design, promotion, and economic vitality to create healthy and livable downtown commercial districts. This approach advocates a return to community self-reliance, empowerment and the rebuilding of commercial districts based on traditional assets, unique architecture, personal service, local ownership, and sense of community.
"We are excited about opening up applications for communities to participate in our Network at one of our advanced levels," said Sheri Stuart, State Coordinator, Oregon Main Street. "Through a recent study of our Network, we know the difference our local main street organizations are having on their communities and welcome the opportunity to work more deeply with other communities that want to use the Main Street Approach(tm)." Applications Now Open for the Save America's Treasures Grant Program

The National Park Service, in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts, is now accepting applications for $26.5 million in matching grants to support the preservation of nationally significant historic properties and collections through the Save America's Treasures program.

Since 1999, Save America's Treasures has provided over $355 million to more than 1,300 projects to provide preservation and conservation work on nationally significant collections, artifacts, structures, and sites. Requiring a dollar-for-dollar private match, these grants have leveraged more than $500 million in private investment and contributed more than 16,000 jobs to local and state economies.

Save America's Treasures grants are awarded through a competitive process and require a dollar-for-dollar, non-Federal match, which can be cash or documented in-kind services. To be considered for this funding, historic properties must be listed as National Historic Landmarks or at the national level of significance in the National Register of Historic Places, and a case must be made for a collection's national significance. Personal pronouns are a standard part of speech that many people in Western cultures pay little attention to; however, pronouns are a critical part of everyone's identity. In the last decade, a significant cultural shift has begun highlighting the use of pronouns, gender-neutral language and the appropriate ways to show respect to people of all gender identities/expressions. Some allies have begun including pronouns in their company email signature to show solidarity in addition to online profiles. Still, it is more complex and nuanced than just these simple acts to create safe and inclusive spaces. This workshop uses practical examples and personal stories from the presenter's experience as a queer, transgender coach and youth soccer club leader.
Objectives:
- Understand the importance of pronouns to individual identity
- Build empathy for transgender and nonbinary communities
- Gain comfort and skills in using gender-neutral pronouns
Target Audience:
This workshop is ideal for anyone beginning to understand the importance of respectfully using pronouns and gender-neutral language. Capitol History Gateway Sponsorship open for applications
The Oregon State Capitol History Gateway (CHG) is launching a second round of funding to help cultural and heritage museums produce an exhibit for display at the Oregon State Capitol. The Capitol displays exhibits from entities throughout the state. CHG program exhibits are increasingly focused on telling Oregon history and stories about Oregonians that are interwoven with democracy or government. The Oregon State Capitol Foundation (OSCF) helps fund this and other CHG programs.
With the historic portion of the building closed for construction, applicants must produce a virtual version of their exhibit for use on the Capitol's website and then display a physical exhibit once the entire building reopens in 2025.
The Capitol's Visitor Services Department produces the CHG program, including events and exhibits, and will administer this funding opportunity. For this second round, the OSCF will award up to $7,500 per museum or organization.
Last year's sponsorship recipients were the Hellenic-American Cultural Center and Museum "Master Penworks of Tom Stefopoulos: The Hellenic Artist of the Lovejoy Columns," the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture "The Nez Perce in Oregon," and Nordic Northwest "Swedish Cabins: Legacy of Henry Steiner and Fogelbo."
