May is National Historic Preservation Month!

May is National Historic Preservation Month and it's an opportunity for communities to reflect on significant places, artifacts, and collections that help tell the stories of our past.

If you are looking for ways to tie into the National celebration of historic preservation, here are some resources below:

  * National Trust for Historic Preservation, Preservation Month 2023<https://savingplaces.org/stories/preservation-month-2023> - includes a digital marketing kit and free GIF stickers.
  * Oregon Heritage ideas in person or virtual can be found here<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Documents/Historic%20Preservation%20Month%20Activities%20COVID.pdf>.

If you are looking for promotion of your efforts, check out this offer from Oregon Heritage:

  * Each week The Oregon Heritage News will dedicate a news item to events happening across the state in May related to Historic Preservation Month. This is a rare opportunity for Oregon Heritage to be able to promote individual organization events. If you have events that you'd like to share, email heritage.info at oprd.oregon.gov<mailto:heritage.info at oprd.oregon.gov>.

If you are looking for opportunities to learn more about heritage in your community, here are some ideas:

  * Tune in to your local historical society and museum
  * Check out the historic sites database<http://heritagedata.prd.state.or.us/historic/>
  * Take a walk in your community and enjoy the sites!

We look forward to seeing how all of your organizations are connecting to Preservation Month!
