Upcoming Oregon Heritage Vitality Study Workshops, Virtual and Forest Grove
Join us to shape the future of Oregon’s heritage sector! This year, the Oregon Heritage Commission is supporting an important update to a decade-old Oregon Heritage Vitality Study. This study will help us understand the current state of the heritage sector in Oregon, highlighting key issues that impact the sector, and provide recommendations at the local and state level to address collective needs and challenges. Right now, we need your help to guide the recommendations that will be included in the Study.
During this interactive workshop, we’ll share an overview of the key issues you helped us identify through the Vitality Study Survey earlier this year and then brainstorm changes and resources that would better support your work. This is your chance to influence the tools and policies that will shape the heritage sector in Oregon over the coming years.
There will be 5 workshop options around the state of Oregon based on your location for you to choose to attend. All workshops will include the same content and agenda, just in different locations to ensure regional inclusion. If none of these work for you, we will also hold a virtual workshop option as well, however we would appreciate as many attendants during our in-person participation if possible! Light refreshments or a light lunch will be provided. Here are the workshop options:
1. Coos Bay Workshop on Monday, April 8th at 3pm at the Coos History Museum DONE! Thanks Coos Bay Workshop Participants!
2. Medford Workshop on Tuesday, April 9th at 10am at the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society DONE! Thanks Medford Workshop Participants!
3. Virtual Online Workshop on Tuesday, April 16th at 12pm

Thank your volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 21-27
The Value of Oregon Heritage Organizations' Volunteers Study<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Documents/HertiageValueVolunteers_Summary.pdf> released by the Oregon Heritage Commission certainly supports how volunteers impact heritage work in Oregon in numerous ways. Thanking volunteers for their work can be done in a variety of ways depending on capacity and tying into Volunteer Appreciation week each year is a good routine to plug into your organization calendar.
If you are looking for ways to thank your volunteers, here are a few resources to check out:
* Oregon Heritage has some template language and ideas here<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/pages/tools.aspx#volunteers>.

PNW nonprofit associations seek to understand strength of capacity in nonprofits with survey
The five statewide nonprofit associations in the Pacific Northwest seek to understand the strength of capacity in the nonprofit sector. Your nonprofit plays a critical role in our communities! This survey covers ten areas of capacity and is designed to provide a comprehensive overview. It should take 30 minutes or less to complete. We recommend that only 501c3s take this survey and that it be filled out by the Executive Director, Board Chair, or an individual in a similar position.
Your answers are anonymous and will not be tied to you or your nonprofit.
If you would like a confidential report on your nonprofit’s capacity after the survey is completed, please check the option at the end of the survey and provide your email address.
This survey will remain open until May 3rd, 5:00 pm Pacific Time.
