2025 Oregon Museum Grant Committee to review grant applications May 15

On May 15, 2025 the Oregon Museum Grant committee will meet to score and rank the applications for the Oregon Museum Grant program. The recommendations from the committee will be forwarded to the Oregon Heritage Commission for final review and approval on May 27, 2025. The meeting will be held by teleconference at 9:30 a.m. interested parties may access the meeting by registering<https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_88_E4HK_SnKcXE2gyOJMjQ> through Zoom. The Heritage Commission is comprised of nine people representing Oregon's heritage and geographical diversity who have been appointed by the Governor. There are nine advisory representatives from state agencies and statewide organizations. The mission of the Oregon Heritage Commission is to secure, sustain, and enhance Oregon's heritage by ensuring coordination of heritage initiatives by public and private organizations; advocacy on its behalf; education of the public about its extent and value; and promotion and celebration of its diversity.

City of La Grande RFP for Historic Preservation Consultant
In 2023, the City of La Grande approved a proposal from the Planning Division to pursue a nomination for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) for the Carnegie Library building (locally called the “Old Library”).  The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of US historic buildings, districts, sites, structures and objects worthy of preservation.  Listing on the NRHP honors the property and recognizes its importance to the community or state.
The City of La Grande is seeking a Historic Preservation Consultant for preparing a nomination for National Register of Historic Places application.

Statewide Historic Preservation Group Seeks Nominations for the 2025 DeMuro Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation
Restore Oregon officially opened the nomination process for their annual DeMuro Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation, the state’s highest honor for the preservation, reuse, and revitalization of architectural and cultural sites. DeMuro-award winning projects serve as inspiration for preservation and reuse and illustrate best practices for using historic places and spaces as tools to solving current challenges such as insufficient affordable housing, stalled economic development, and resiliency from climate change.
What: The nomination period for applications to the 2025 DeMuro Awards is open until May 30, 2025. A jury of professionals in the fields of architecture, engineering, planning, and historic preservation select award-winning projects based on the following criteria:
● Rehabilitation/redevelopment of a structure, public space, or cultural landscape at least 50 years old; OR, compatible addition to a historic building or infill development within a historic district.
● Completed in Oregon within the last five years (2020-Present).
● Self-nominations are welcome.
● Previous applicants (that haven’t been awarded) from 2020-present may re-apply.
● Creative or unique approach to design, adaptive reuse, and problem-solving in the field of historic preservation.
● Exceptional quality of engineering, craftsmanship, materials, standards, and degree of difficulty of the project.
● Positive impact of the project on the community (cultural, economic, or environmental).
