<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Tahoma">Ethnographic, archaeological and ethnohistorical accounts suggest that the architecture of the people of Western Oregon and the lower Columbia region was similar to other Northwest Coast groups, but there were some distinct differences in dwelling styles on the central and southern Oregon Coast. Several house styles from the region will be described and compared with descriptions of the people and their houses found in the logs and charts of Captain Francis Drake, who landed on the West Coast of America during the summer of 1579. These documents were suppressed, and the official account censored. Darby will explore whether these descriptions ‘fit’ the record. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
