Oregonians will help design the future of the former 23-acre Blue Heron Paper Company site in downtown Oregon City during a nine-month visioning and master planning process that culminates with the redevelopment of the property, which sits next to Willamette Falls.</SPAN></P>

In 2011, the Blue Heron Paper Company closed its doors in a bankruptcy, leaving an opportunity to redevelop the site. The master planning and public visioning process will enhance economic development, provide the public access to the Falls, protect and create healthy habitats for plants and wildlife and provide opportunities for historical and cultural interpretation. <P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Garamond','serif'; FONT-SIZE: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'">The Historic Preservation League of Oregon (HPLO), the 36-year-old non-profit known for championing the restoration of Crater Lake Lodge, its annual list of Oregon’s Most Endangered Places, and popular Mid-Century Modern Home Tour, recently announced a change in its name to <SPAN style="mso-bidi-font-weight: bold">Restore Oregon</SPAN>. The re-branding is part of a push by the organization to expand its base and increase the number of saved historic places. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>

Nothing could be further from the truth!” says Moretti. “Restore Oregon is all about livability, sustainability, and economic revitalization on Main Street. We’re about saving great places that are packed full of our history, local materials and craftsmanship, and restoring them for new uses. Rehabilitating existing buildings creates more jobs dollar-for-dollar than new construction and this work is transforming communities.”<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
