The Oregon State Library has been selected to receive a Preservation Assistance Grant for Smaller Institutions from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The $5,981 grant will be used to purchase archival (non-acidic, non-lignin) pamphlet
binders and envelopes to rehouse more than 3,500 items from library's Oregon history and culture collection which are in danger of deterioration in their current acidic enclosures. The rehousing project will be completed by the end of 2016.

The mission of the Oregon State Library is, in part, to provide "leadership and resources to continue growing vibrant library services" for "the Legislature and state government." Maintaining a research-level library collection on the history

history: from early exploration and Old "Oregon Country," the Territorial period, and statehood to recent events in the 21st century. The collection contains monographs, journals, magazines, newsletters, pamphlets, maps, ephemera, and a small number of audio-visual
items.
