<p class="MsoNormal">The post offices in Bridal Veil, Cascade Locks, Corbett, Hood River, Mosier, The Dalles and Troutdale have started to use a special postmarks in conjunction with the issuance of the Postal Service’s new Columbia River Gorge Priority Mail
Express™ postage stamp.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The seven postmarks depict a scene with the Bridge of the Gods spanning the Columbia River Gorge. The new Priority Mail Express™ stamp depicts the majestic Columbia River Gorge as sunset approaches; stamp artist Dan Cosgrove used bold colors
and dramatic shadows in the sun’s reflection off of the clouds, trees, and water to capture the grandeur of the Gorge. The historic Vista House, sitting atop Crown Point and overlooking the river 725 feet below, shimmers in the golden light of the setting
sun. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The Oregon Historical Society is offering its affiliates 10 speakers who can give talks on local aspects of Chinese history in Oregon. These programs are offered in response to affiliates' requests to have such opportunities and in association
with <i><a href="http://ohs.org/museum/exhibits/chinese-american-exclusion-inclusion.cfm">Chinese American: Exclusion / Inclusion</a></i> and <i><a href="http://ohs.org/museum/exhibits/beyond-the-gate.cfm">Beyond the Gate: A Tale of Portland’s Historic Chinatowns</a></i>,
exhibits on national and Portland Chinese history available at the OHS this spring. OHS will pay speakers' travel costs and offer them honoraria for making the presentations. Programs must take place between April 1 and June 15.

<p class="MsoNormal">The Oregon Heritage Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Feb. 1 at the Museum of the Oregon Territory, 211 Tumwater Drive, Oregon City. The agenda includes Oregon Heritage Tradition designations, an overview of the Heritage Commission’s Museum
Grant program and other commission programs. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Archaeologist Chelsea Rose will present objects and findings from Southern Oregon University's archaeological digs to describe the daily life of Chinese workers in Jacksonville at 10 a.m. Jan. 23 at the Southern Oregon Historical Society’s
History Center, 106 N. Central Ave., Medford. Rose is the author of the Jacksonville Review column on local archaeology, and is on the staff of SOU’s Laboratory of Archaeology. The library and archives at the SOHS History Center will be open for free research
from noon-2 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.<o:p></o:p></p>
