<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">On October 22, Commissioners will gather at 12:30 p.m. to tour heritage efforts Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center and the Wallowa Band Nez Perce Trail Interpretive Center.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">On October 23, a public business meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the Prairie Creek Center, 104 Licht Street, Enterprise. Its agenda includes review and decision on a proposed statewide celebration declaration for the
175th anniversary of the Oregon Trail migration, Oregon Heritage Tradition designation proposal, Oregon Heritage Conference 2018 in Bend, a statewide digitization initiative, and technical outreach services.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">The Heritage Commission is comprised of nine people representing Oregon's heritage and geographical diversity who have been appointed by the Governor. There are nine advisory representatives from state agencies and
statewide organizations. The mission of the Oregon Heritage Commission is to secure, sustain, and enhance Oregon's heritage by ensuring coordination of heritage initiatives by public and private organizations; advocacy on its behalf; education of the public
about its extent and value; and promotion and celebration of its diversity.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">The Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries will meet at 1 p.m. October 13 at the OSU Sherman County Extension Office, 66365 Lonerock Road, Moro. Agenda items will include cemetery ownership, statewide cemetery clean-up
days, grant projects, current projects and upcoming plans. The commission will also discuss draft administrative rules for the implementation of recent legislation. This legislation created a program to provide permits to organizations that want to maintain

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is now accepting grant applications for the Museums for America and the National Leadership Grants for Museums programs. The application deadline for each program
is December 1, 2017.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">Changes to the FY 2018 programs include adjustments to award amount limits for Museums for America (MFA); applicants may request awards of up to $250,000. The Museums for America program continues to support projects
that strengthen the ability of an individual museum to serve its public.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">Applicants for The National Leadership Grants for Museums (NLG-M) program may now apply under four new project categories: Advancing Digital Assets and Capacity, Diversity and Inclusion, Collections Care and Access,
and Professional Development. Program guidelines also include information about activities of special interest to IMLS for FY 2018.</font></p>

<a href="http://www.westmuse.org/RFP" target="_blank">Request for Proposals</a> for WMA 2018, which will be held in Tacoma, Washington on October 21-24.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">Through the theme of INSPIRE, we will focus on the ways museums inspire action, change, and unity. How can museums inspire communities to take action? How can museums be agents of social change / social justice? How
can museums increase diversity in their exhibits, programming, and museum staff / boards? What cross-sector, unconventional partnerships can be formed between museums and other organizations? How can we make museums more inclusive places? The deadline for
2018 Session Proposals is Friday, November 17, 2017.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">Face painting, participating in mini tractor pulls, picking pumpkins and petting small animals sounds like a fall day out on the farm, but this year we are bringing the experience into downtown Salem for Oregon’s Bounty:
A Celebration of the Harvest on Saturday, October 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the State Capitol.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">Free face painting and a free pumpkin patch (one per person, limited to availability) will be offered during the entire event. Caught Red Handed, a band from Bandon, will perform on the Capitol steps starting at 11:30
a.m. Numerous agricultural activities will be available inside and outside the Capitol throughout the entire four hours, including the Department of Agriculture’s Crop Up Luncheon, which goes 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in State Capitol State Park. Tickets for the
luncheon can be purchased at <a href="http://bit.do/CropUp" target="_blank">http://bit.do/CropUp</a>.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana">It will also be the last chance in 2017 for visitors to go to the observation platform on top of the Capitol. Tower tours will be offered at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m., weather permitting. Tower tours are limited to the
