<span style="font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif">After 18 years of serving as the State Archaeologist with the Oregon SHPO, I will be leaving OPRD at the end of August to join the ranks of the retired. It has been a true pleasure and a privilege
to have worked with so many fine people for so long, both within the best SHPO I could have ever found, as well as with so many of you from other federal and state agencies, tribal nations, companies, or as private citizens. While I am stepping down from
the 40-hr work week, I am in no way leaving the cultural resource field behind, for it remains too close to my heart. After a short break to enjoy the benefits of being able to sleep-in, I hope to do a little consulting as I work on several writing projects
that have been sitting on the back burner for too many years. I look forward to seeing many of you in the field or at conferences in the future and want to thank you for making my time at the SHPO so rewarding and enjoyable.

in a reduction in staffing and implemented a temporary hiring freeze. These circumstances impact both OPRD and Oregon Heritage as the agency re-orients itself and reorganizes, including the timeline to fill my position. OPRD does intend to fill my position
as soon as possible; however, in the interim, beginning September 1st, John Pouley and other staff will assume my responsibilities. More details regarding the timeline for flying my position will be out before the end of the month.
