The Guidelines serve several purposes for museum archivists. They demonstrate best practices and essential functions to museum administrations. They justify the role the museum archivist should assume within the institution in order to
be successful and the related work that should be undertaken. They also help museum archivists accomplish that work to agreed upon professional standards. It is important to note that museum administrators and staff do not always understand the critical value
of the museum archives to the institution and how it should be supported, especially when the museum’s focus is a more-highly valued and appreciated object collection. The Guidelines are a tool that museum archivists can use as they navigate this complex dynamic.

Message from the PSU Archaeology Roadshow Committee:

One event which we hope will brighten your spirits is the
2021 Archaeology Roadshow -- which we’re organizing for the month of June. In light of uncertainties associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve decided to plan mainly for virtual activities while building in enough flexibility to add face-to-face
activities if circumstances eventually allow for it. Of course we’ll miss having everyone all come together physically -- in Portland and in our sister communities (Bend, Harney County). But we’re focused on the benefits of the virtual Roadshow: we’ll be able
to attract more public participation and perhaps more organizations from around the state to host events, since people can join in without having to drive long distances. Also, we’ll be able to host some of our virtual activities long after June -- so that
the public (both in Oregon and around the world!) can keep benefiting from our hard work after the Roadshow is officially over.

What will the Archaeology Roadshow of 2021 look like? We are envisioning the framework being a new website where we can host virtual exhibits, such as short videos about recent projects, printable activities (e.g., scavenger hunts,
coloring pages for kids), photo essays, and blogs/articles geared for the public. We also plan to host live presentations and panel discussions on a range of topics; and an expert panel where visitors can log in to talk with an expert about their treasured
object. In short, we’re picturing some activities that visitors can access anytime -- and some that will happen at set days and times throughout the month.

As always, our 2021 Roadshow will have many layers of benefits.
The public will learn more about our region’s rich and complex human past and its connections to us today. Visitors will also learn about the range of organizations that are engaged in archaeology and heritage activities -- and why this work truly matters
to us all. The Roadshow also forges connections among individuals and organizations in our state who are passionate about heritage, site stewardship and public education.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), in consultation with the Treasury Department, announced today that the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) will re-open the week of January 11
for new borrowers and certain existing PPP borrowers. To promote access to capital, initially only community financial institutions will be able to make First Draw PPP Loans on Monday, January 11, and Second Draw PPP Loans on Wednesday, January 13. The PPP
will open to all participating lenders shortly thereafter. Updated PPP guidance outlining Program changes to enhance its effectiveness and accessibility was released on January 6 in accordance with the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Non-Profits,
and Venues Act.

This round of the PPP continues to prioritize millions of Americans employed by small businesses by authorizing up to $284 billion toward job retention and certain other expenses through March 31, 2021, and by allowing certain existing
PPP borrowers to apply for a Second Draw PPP Loan.

“The historically successful Paycheck Protection Program served as an economic lifeline to millions of small businesses and their employees when they needed it most,” said Administrator Jovita Carranza. “Today’s guidance builds on the
success of the program and adapts to the changing needs of small business owners by providing targeted relief and a simpler forgiveness process to ensure their path to recovery.”

“The Paycheck Protection Program has successfully provided 5.2 million loans worth $525 billion to America’s small businesses, supporting more than 51 million jobs,” said Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin. “This updated guidance enhances
the PPP’s targeted relief to small businesses most impacted by COVID-19. We are committed to implementing this round of PPP quickly to continue supporting American small businesses and their workers.”
