<p class="MsoNormal">Oregon Heritage has a special opportunity to give out to up to 72 heritage organizations with a budget of less than $500,000 a free one-year membership to the Nonprofit Association of Oregon. You must not currently be a member of NAO in
order to be eligible. Selection of recipients will be made through a random lottery.

<p class="MsoNormal">Nonprofit Association of Oregon has continually offered relevant and engaging workshops, conferences, tools, and networking to help support Oregon’s nonprofits and encourage best practices resulting in nonprofit sustainability. They have
especially ramped up their efforts during COVID-19 by advocating at the national level for financial aid, providing updates to nonprofits on COVID-19 financial aid relevant to nonprofits, and by having programs that help nonprofits navigate the financial assistance
being offered. During these hard times it is especially important for nonprofits to continue operating and not lose sight of best practices and use this opportunity to develop processes and procedures to help their heritage organization endure through the
pandemic and recovery period. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">As work begins on developing strategic plans that are responsive to Oregon’s ever-dynamic tourism economy, Travel Oregon and the state’s seven official regional destination management organizations (RDMOs), are hosting virtual engagement
sessions to seek input from communities, local businesses and individuals that drive the state’s tourism economy. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Anyone who is involved in the tourism industry, including business owners, staff, destination marketing organizations, public land managers, policymakers, and tribal representatives are strongly encouraged attend. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Participants will have the opportunity to review draft regional strategic plans as well as high-level statewide strategic priorities and share their insights and perspectives. The information collected from participants during these sessions

<p class="MsoNormal">Donovan Rypkema, Principal of Place Economics, shared with us the results of a recent poll on the impact the Coronavirus has had on preservation organizations.

<p class="MsoNormal">A couple key findings:<o:p></o:p></p>
<ul style="margin-top:0in" type="disc">
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l4 level1 lfo7">Respondents to this survey were overwhelmingly preservation professionals. Nearly 2/3s of the respondents (63.2%) stated that historic preservation is a “significant part of my job” and another 12.3% that
preservation is “occasionally part of my job.”<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list:l4 level1 lfo7">Over half (51.9%) said that the cancellation of meetings/conferences/workshops negatively affected their business or profession a great deal. major negative impacts were increased individual workload (37.6%),
and revenue/budget/contribution reductions (32.5%). That last category impacted non-profit organizations significantly more than either public or private sector entities.<o:p></o:p></li></ul>
