One National Register application recommended by the Oregon’s State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) has been accepted by the National Park Service and listed in the National Register of Historic Places as of June 21, 2022.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">The Phoenix Pharmacy Building, built in 1922 at the angled intersection of SE Foster Road and SE 67th Avenue in the Foster-Powell Neighborhood of Portland, is significant as
an early keystone building that led the way in, and spurred further commercial development of this section of the City during the early 1920s. Long an architectural focal point of SE Foster Road, it held the pharmacy of John R. Leach from its construction
until Leach’s 1946 retirement. It remained a pharmacy until 1969, after which it remained in varying other commercial uses through several owners until 1999, since which it has been used for storage. The building is now undergoing rehabilitation work ahead
of its anticipated reopening.

The Phoenix Pharmacy Building is also listed in the National register for its close association with the life and achievements of its original owner, John R. Leach, a widely-recognized neighborhood advocate and booster, and an active civic leader who was
instrumental in pushing for, and then leading the commercial development of the Foster Road corridor, a commitment he backed up by leading the way with his construction of this building.

The National Register is maintained by the National Park Service under the authority of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. More information about the National Register and recent Oregon listings are online at
