<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">The American Association for State & Local History (AASLH) is having their Annual Conference in Boise, Idaho this fall. It would be great to have a contingency of Oregon folks to attend and hopefully be inspired
by projects, trends, and more happening around the country in the heritage preservation field. This conference is eligible for the Oregon Heritage Preservation Scholarship.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">The Oregon Heritage Preservation Scholarship provides financial assistance for Oregon residents to attend a preservation-related (historic preservation, archives, museums, Main Street, historic cemeteries, etc.)
conference, workshop, or training. Eligible travel expenses include registration fees, transportation (e.g. air fare, personal vehicle mileage, etc.), and lodging.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">Scholarships are non-competitive and offered twice per year. The cycle open now is for eligible conferences taking place between July 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023. The application deadline is July 7, 2023.

guidelines</a> and online application <a href="https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Documents/EWPScholarsihpOnlineInstructions2023.pdf">
instructions</a> provide details such as eligible conferences.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">Award amounts will be $100-$1000 depending on the number of applicants. Funds will be dispersed evenly.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">Scholarship recipients will be expected to share what they learn from the conference, workshop, or training with others through a post on the
<i>Oregon Heritage Exchange </i>blog, a public presentation, or some other way approved by Oregon Heritage.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">The scholarship is offered by Oregon Heritage, part of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, in honor of Elisabeth Walton Potter. Potter was a long-time historian with the State Historic Preservation Office
and coordinator for the National Register of Historic Places program in Oregon. <o:p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">his half-day virtual workshop will help history practitioners at institutions of all types and sizes learn how to communicate about their work more effectively. Whether you need to write new exhibit text, fundraising
letters, or advocacy calls, this workshop will draw on new research from AASLH’s “Reframing History” project to help you communicate in a way that is more likely to resonate with your intended audiences and help build a better understanding of the value of
history and history organizations like museums and historical societies. This workshop will include an overview of research findings, discussions about major challenges in communicating history with colleagues from around the country, and and – most importantly
– an opportunity to begin crafting your own communications materials. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">The Oregon Historical Society’s research library holds an extensive collection of manuscripts, photographs, publications, and oral histories that document the experiences and achievements of the Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) communities in the Pacific Northwest. This guide highlights a selection of those materials by format. Researchers are also encouraged to search the library catalog and consult with reference librarians for additional
resources related to their specific research topic.<br>

OHS is a proud partner of the Gay & Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN). Since the organization’s founding in 1994, GLAPN advocates have worked with OHS to document and preserve queer cultural history in the Pacific Northwest. Materials collected
by GLAPN currently comprise 30 separate collections that document the gay rights movement and prominent cultural events and figures within the LGBTQ community in the region. GLAPN collections at OHS are designated Mss 2988-1 through Mss 2988-30. Browse the
