Join our team as the National Register of Historic Places Program Coordinator, where you will use your expertise to document Oregon's diverse history and achieve federal recognition for the unique places, objects, and sites associated with our state's significant,
 shared past. Listing a property in the National Register of Historic Places makes the property eligible for federal, state, and local preservation protections and incentives, and creates a cultural legacy for present and future generations.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">Responsibilities include working with the public, elected and appointed officials, and various organizations to identify and document historic properties and prepare National Register of Historic Places 10-900
 forms, identifying program priorities, and supporting the work of the State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP), a governor-appointed body of experts tasked with reviewing nomination documents before submission to the National Park Service.
 This position also advises the many federal and state programs within the Heritage Division regarding the eligibility of historic properties for listing in the National Register. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt"><b>This position is "hybrid," allowing for work-from-home opportunities</b>, but does require regularly scheduled in-office work at the agency's Salem, OR office to complete statutory mailings and other in-office
 work and day and overnight travel to off-site locations across the state at least once a month. Travel is also required to support the regular meetings of the State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP). Travel expenses are reimbursed. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">There is one appointed position currently vacant on the Oregon Heritage Commission and two positions that will become vacant July 2024. The Heritage Commission is especially seeking members with knowledge and
 experience related to community institutions, heritage tourism, or education/higher education and who have experience working with diverse cultural groups. The Commission seeks applications from those that live in the Southern, Willamette Valley, and Central
 Oregon area. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">The Heritage Commission$B!G(Bs nine members represent a diversity of cultural, geographic, and institutional interests. The Commission is the primary agency for coordination of heritage activities in the state. This
 includes carrying out the <a href="https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Documents/2020_Oregon_Heritage_Plan.pdf">
Oregon Heritage Plan</a>, increasing efficiency and avoiding duplication among interest groups, developing plans for coordination among agencies and organizations, encouraging tourism related to heritage resources, and coordinating statewide anniversary commemorations.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">The group meets four-six times per year in changing locations around the state and will offer virtual options to attend meetings. Commissioners are also asked to occasionally participate in meetings or events
 in their regions and work on other projects outside of meeting time. Appointed Commissioners are reimbursed for their travel and related expenses while conducting official commission business.<o:p></o:p></p>
