fresh perspectives on current topics are needed to keep the exploration of Oregon's history fresh and relevant. The fellowship offers a financial incentive for these research efforts and an opportunity to publicly share what is learned with the heritage community.
The hope is that these efforts will stimulate further inquiry and discussion, and even lead to broader distribution through publications and other media.

reuse of Yaquina Hall using historic tax credits</span>.</i> The Salem Housing Authority managed the rehabilitation of
<a href="https://www.salemhousingor.com/yaquinahall1">Yaquina Hall</a> (1947), a former Oregon State Hospital Nursing building, which was converted into a 52 apartment supportive housing development and opened in 2023. The Salem Housing Authority continues
to work with partner service agencies in the community to offer supportive services living at Yaquina Hall and prioritizes providing housing in these units for people who are disabled, suffering from mental illness, homeless or at risk of homelessness in the
Salem community. Financing for the project included $2.8 million in historic tax credits and was a crucial piece for funding the project. The award will be presented to Salem’s Community Planning and Development Director, Kristin Retherford as well as Nicole
Utz and Jessica Blakely from the City of Salem’s Housing Authority at the National 2024 Historic Tax Credit Conference in Kansas City in October.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

summative evaluations. Participating museums will be better able to measure their own social impact, connect with their peers in the field conducting similar work, and advocate for their organizations based on their findings. Applications are due August 15.

will expand the visitor experience at a new memorial currently being designed at the historic Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Lone Fir’s Block 14 has a rich and multifaceted history that was erased over decades of racial prejudice. Through an extensive research effort, archeologists and
historic archives revealed that more than 2,800 Chinese people were buried at the cemetery between the 1860s and 1920s.
