Below is an update about a new effort that will shape how Oregon Heritage and the State Historic Preservation Office support heritage work statewide.

Oregon Parks and Recreation Department has begun the procurement process for the Heritage Hub project. This long-term effort focuses on improving how heritage information is submitted, tracked, and shared. The
project is part of the agency's commitment to serving as responsible stewards of cultural resource information in partnership with the public we serve.

The Heritage Hub, a data and process management system, will gradually modernize the systems and tools to support Oregon Heritage programs that protect and preserve Oregon’s historic and cultural resources. We
will be moving forward incrementally, and the project will bring existing processes into a more cohesive and accessible environment over time.

The initial release of the Heritage Hub will introduce a new public interface that will focus on the submission process for project review for cultural resource protection and survey and inventory processes for
historic properties. The standardized processes will closely align with systems used by other State Historic Preservation Offices, with limited customization, while laying the groundwork for additional tools and programs to be added over time as funding allows.

Some existing processes will remain in place for a period of time, and the system will grow gradually rather than all at once. Certain features will continue to be available at no cost, while others may include
fees to help support long-term maintenance and future improvements.

Here is the link to our webpage with the most current information and updates where you can learn more. For questions about the project, please

Commission partnered with Story Quilters, LLC to create Dates to Doorways, a free downloadable toolkit to help organizations plan milestone moments with intention. The toolkit offers an introduction to anniversaries and milestones and opportunities
that may exist for organizations to connect with them in thoughtful ways, real-world examples, and practical ideas for special programming, community engagement, collections/archives, and fundraising/marketing.

Grants from National Trust Preservation Funds (NTPF) are intended to encourage preservation at the local level by supporting on-going preservation work and by providing seed money for preservation projects.
These grants help stimulate public discussion, enable local groups to gain the technical expertise needed for preservation projects, introduce the public to preservation concepts and techniques, and encourage financial participation by the private sector.
A small grant at the right time can go a long way and is often the catalyst that inspires a community to take action on a preservation project. Grants generally start at $2,500 and range up to $5,000.
