[HistoricCemeteries] Oregon Heritage Commission to meet in Monmouth

The Oregon Heritage Commission will meet at 9 a.m., July 18, in Straub
Conference Room 301A in the Hamersly Library on the Western Oregon
University campus in Monmouth. The meeting will be the first for two
organizations recently added as advisors by the Oregon Legislature.
 
The addition of the Oregon Tourism Commission and the State Historic
Records Advisory Board brings to nine the number of advisors. The
Heritage Commission is comprised of nine people representing Oregon’s
heritage and geographical diversity who have been appointed by the
Governor.
 
A variety of issues related to Oregon heritage sites, organizations and
activities is on the preliminary agenda for this public meeting.
 
The mission of the Oregon Heritage Commission is to secure, sustain,
and enhance Oregon's heritage by ensuring coordination of heritage
initiatives by public and private organizations; advocacy on its behalf;
education of the public about its extent and value; and promotion and
celebration of its diversity.
