Hi Kuri,

The unfortunate omission of genealogy society staff and volunteers as conference attendees was noted with concern. For example all records relating to historic cemeteries, activities for preservation in the field, and coordination with cemetery associations throughout  Jackson County are routine  ongoing functions of the Jackson County Genealogy Library (owned and operated by the Rogue Valley Genealogy Society).  Preservation of historic cemeteries and records is, and has been, a priority since society inception 48 years ago. Please don't forget or ignore the role of genealogists in your efforts.

Grant McOmie, the award-winning television journalist whose stories about travels on Oregon's backroads blend outdoor recreation and cultural heritage, will be the keynote speaker at this year's Oregon Heritage Conference.
The conference will take place April 23-25 in Albany. Its theme is "Celebrate, Recreate, Invigorate at the Hub of Heritage and Recreation."
McOmie has had a varied career reporting and producing topical and timely environmental news stories, features and documentary programs for Seattle and Portland television stations. However, he has most enjoyed his exploration of Pacific Northwest back roads and byways through "Grant's Getaways."
A fifth-generation Oregonian with roots near Prineville and Redmond, McOmie has won numerous Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Edward R. Murrow Award for News Coverage from the Radio-Television News Directors Association.
He is the author of a new book, "Grant's Getaways-101 Oregon Adventures."
Conference attendees will include community leaders, staff and volunteers from historical societies, museums, archives, historic cemeteries, ethnic organizations, schools, historic preservation commissions, humanities groups, Main Street programs, the tourism industry, economic development, staff from local, state, and federal governments, and professional historians and preservationists.
