We used GPR at our Pioneer cemetery and it was amazing! We had 95 graves marked and found an additional 298! They are all marked now with beautiful generic markers. If anyone has questions feel free to email me at banducc1 at live.com

Kuri,

My niece, Wendi Roberts who lives in Bandon will be
attending...she has a reservation and paid the $10.00. Am excited to
have her with Bob and me that day.

A Comparison of Remote Sensing Techniques for Cemetery
Mapping Workshop
April 22, 9:00am-3:30pm
$10.00, lunch not included, but there will be a
break
As remote sensing or archaeogeophysical techniques become a
more common tool for historic cemetery mangers, there is a greater need to
understand which methods are appropriate for each cemetery location. This
workshop compares the abilities and limitations of ground‐penetrating RADAR
(GPR), magnetometry, metal detectors, conductivity, and resistivity to help
cemetery managers determine the best method to use, optimal conditions for their
use, the order in which they should be used, and the cost. Examples of how
these non‐destructive techniques have been used in the Pacific Northwest to
locate and map cemeteries and their varying degrees of success will be
presented. An afternoon field demonstration of the techniques will be
conducted at Marshfield Cemetery.

The session is part of the Oregon Heritage Conference, April
22-24 in North Bend. To register for the workshop only, call Tracy Zeller at
503-986-0690. For conference information visit the conference
webpage.

The Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries meeting will be
during the conference, April 23, 2:00-4:30pm, at the Coos History Museum. For
more information contact Kuri Gill at
503-986-0685.
