MOURNING PRACTICES, CEMETERY HIGHLIGHTED IN SOUTHERN OREGON

Southern Oregon Historical Society curator Tina Reuwsaat will speak on the customs and origins of Victorian mourning practices at 10 a.m. Oct. 24 at the society's History Center, 106 N. Central Ave., Medford. She'll touch on funeral practices, social restrictions, customary dress and sentimental keepsakes, and show unusual artifacts from SOHS and personal collections.

At 11 a.m. Oct. 25 historian Terry Skibby will lead a tour at the historic Ashland Cemetery. Wear comfortable shoes and meet at the entrance to the cemetery on East Main in Ashland, behind Haggens (Safeway).
