Valid subjects indeed. I would suggest that we contact other jurisdictions to learn 
what they are doing regarding the subjects listed. Others may have already came 
up with some good ideas in other States.

At the May 9 2017 Oregon Mortuary and Cemetery Board meeting, the Board directed staff to start the rulemaking process for the following topics (Phase I): 



Relating to the handling of persons who have died of or with communicable diseases; 



Relating to the holding of funerals for individuals afflicted with communicable diseases; 



Relating to Temporary Operating Permit for a cemetery that does not hold a valid license; and 



Relating to the Indigent Disposition Program. 



Copies of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Hearing, Statement of Need and Fiscal Impact, and the proposed rules are available from the Board’s website, under the Rulemaking Related link: http://www.oregon.gov/MortCem/Pages/Rulemaking.aspx 




A public hearing has been scheduled for June 22 2016 , at 800 NE Oregon Street, Suite 445, at 10 am. The last day and time for written comment is June 22 2016, 4 pm.
