Position Paper on Irrigation in Historic Cemeteries Released

The Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries' most recent position paper addresses irrigation and mowing in historic cemeteries. Often historic cemeteries must balance preservation of the historic character and monuments with sales and public perception. The commission recommends avoiding regular irrigation in most historic cemeteries. See the paper<http://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/OCHC/docs/OCHCPPIrrigation.pdf> to understand their approach from a historical and preservation perspective. Also, the National Park Service offers a fun graphic comic<http://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/OCHC/docs/NPS_Gravestones.pdf> about the topic.
