Other Opportunities

Seeking rural clinicians for smoking cessation interviews
ORPRN and the Veterans Rural Health Resource Center are looking for rural primary care clinicians willing to take part in a one-time interview regarding the relationship between smoking cessation and elective surgeries.

During a one-time 30- to 40-minute virtual interview (over the phone or via teleconferencing software), clinicians will be asked about their thoughts and experiences related to guidelines requiring patients to quit smoking prior to elective surgeries, availability and utilization of smoking cessation resources, and how to improve smoking cessation interventions among rural patients seeking elective surgeries.

Participants will be compensated $100 for their time if allowed by their clinic/institution.

MAT Waiver Training
The Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) Half and Half Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) waiver training course provides an overview of buprenorphine, one of three medications approved by the FDA for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD). This course fulfills the 8 hour requirement for physicians, physician assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) who are eligible to prescribe buprenorphine in office-based settings for the treatment of OUD. The course also provides an overview of prevention, identification, and treatment of substance use disorders emphasizing OUD. Residents may take the course and apply for their waiver once they obtain their DEA license.

The training is offered at no cost and provides no-cost CME credits.

The next PCSS Training takes place on August 20,  8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Pacific time.
