The Harm Reduction Health Navigator position is a part of an inter-disciplinary Outreach, Harm Reduction and Communicable Disease team working to prevent HIV infection and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in Benton County. This position is primarily field-based, conducting community level outreach, education, and navigation services. The position primarily works with unhoused, unsheltered and other socially and economically marginalized communities; people living with chronic mental illness; people with alcohol and drug dependencies; men who have sex with men; other members of sexual minority communities and others at high risk for HIV/STIs.

This position may also be called upon to assist with community outreach and engagement efforts during the COVID-19 response or other emergencies (wildfire, extreme heat, flooding, etc.).

The Ideal Candidate

  *   Bilingual in Spanish /English
  *   Has experience planning and conducting outreach to hard-to-reach populations
  *   Has lived experience or experience working with unhoused, unsheltered and other socially economically marginalized communities; people living with chronic mental illness; people with alcohol and drug dependencies
  *   Has lived experience or experience working with historically underrepresented communities (e.g., Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, Latino/a/x, LGBTQ, people with diverse abilities)
  *   Has a deep understanding of and experience providing trauma-informed care
  *   Has experience using health literacy principles
  *   Has a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Minimum Qualifications

  *   1 year of education or technical training beyond High School; AND
  *   1 year of experience related to the area of assignment (i.e., Public Health, Community Outreach, Health Navigation).
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Please note candidates must have at least 6 months of actual work experience to be considered as equivalent.
