PrEP is a vital tool in our efforts to End the HIV Epidemic in the US. In December 2021, CDC published the Clinical Practice Guideline for Preexposure Prophylaxis for HIV Prevention and Clinical Providers Supplement. This document serves as a guidepost for data-driven PrEP delivery and reflects the latest evidence and FDA guidance for PrEP prescribing, the policy implications on newly FDA-approved long-acting products, and the multiple ways in which patients are on-boarded into the PrEP intervention system.

Join Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, CDC’s Director of the Division of HIV Prevention, on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 1:00pm EDT at as he delves into these clinical guidelines and reviews the latest PrEP science. Following his presentation, Dr. Anu Hazra will speak to the clinical considerations of the guidelines from a PrEP provider standpoint, followed by a moderated Q & A session with both faculty.

Demetre C. Daskalakis, MD, MPH

Dr. Daskalakis serves as the Director of CDC's Division of HIV Prevention, National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention. He is recognized nationally and internationally as an expert in HIV prevention and has focused much of his career on the treatment and prevention of HIV and other STIs as an activist physician with a focus on LGBTQIA+ communities.

Anu Hazra, MD

Dr. Hazra is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in UChicago Department of Medicine's Section of Infectious Diseases and Global Health. His research and clinical interests center around STIs and their impact on gender and sexual minorities. His other clinical interests include complex HIV management, hepatitis C treatment, high resolution anoscopy, treatment of opioid use disorder, and medical education.
